Data Sections and Variables

Page history last edited by Ryan 14 years, 7 months ago

Base

The base section is the main driver for categorical meta-data. The double-bracket format is as follows:

[[ FIELD | VALUE | DISPLAY | NOTE]]

[[first|1998-04-03|Premier (First 12eps)]]

[[theme|Bounty Hunters, Space]]

Valid Base fields include:

  • country - not needed for country implicit types (anime, manga, light novel, visual novel)
  • locale - city, state, prefecture of orgin or possibly setting
  • language - source language
  •
  • year
  • first - date of first appearance (premiere, released, published) (used in place of year)
  • date - general date field
  • season - (winter, spring, summer, fall)
  •
  • format - context-type dependent (ie. music: album, EP, single; anime: series, OVA, movie)
  • type - descriptor above genre (less used, similar to format)
  •
  • genre - [need list of top-level genre, via wikipedia]
  • theme - more unrestricted categorization than genre; dealing with topics
  • style - (ie. music: post-rock, instrumental)
  • mood - atmospheric feeling (somewhat subjective, good editors are attractive, btw)
  • medium - (ie. wiki on media )
  • form - [undefined register, please make suggestions]
  • period - period in history, or for periodicals, interval of publishing
  •
  • length - general length register
  • rating - less used, rating for tv, film, games (ie. mature, pg-13)

Blue indicates fields which are more beneficial to the system and interlinking title-data, organization, and searches. Fields useage is not moderated, and guidelines are open for discussion on #melative or in the comments.

For genre, theme, style, and mood. Please use a comma-space separated, lower-case list when indicating multiple attributes.

Production

Creators (individuals and companies) behind the work. Format is similar to the Base section:

[[ FIELD | VALUE | DISPLAY | NOTE]]

[[director|Shinichiro Watanabe|Series %F]]

Please see the production page for a list of Fields. It is necessary to note that field-names should be lowercase. Within the DISPLAY, %F may be used to indicate a replacement of the FIELD-type. From the example, 'Series %F' becomes 'Series Director'.

Description

Textual description, in no way to be extremely comprehensive (leave that for the wikipedia). Assumes the position of synopsis, plot, and description. HTML is allowed, but please be careful and try to use simple html elements and avoid the style attribute (strong, big, small, etc).

Standards (discontinued, use Resources)

Resources

Resources are the standardized linkage across the web. The goal of resources is to provide the best comprehensive list of URLs to other sites which host data on the given title, the most important ones being: the official page(s), wikipedia, and other well known services (non-personal pages/blogs).

The format for resources is:

[[ URL | TITLE | DESCRIPTION/NOTE ]]

[[http://www.b-ch.com/cgi-bin/contents/ttl/det.cgi?ttl_c=130|Official|Bandai Channel]]

Characters

Characters are not available for every media-type, the format is:

[[ CHARACTER NAME | ACTOR NAME | NOTE ]]

[[Faye Valentine|Megumi Hayashibara]]

Tracks

Track may become their own context in the future. The format for tracks in a given work:

[[ INDEX | NAME | LENGTH | NOTE ]]

[[01|Red|6:45|album version]]

Index being the numerical value or some form of descriptor (please refrain from listing OST on non-music/album types). Again there are no chekcs to validate the data, so please edit carefully.

Quotes

[[ QUOTE | NOTE ]]
